Myriad Site stolen Ideas Empty

Myriad Paths is a fantasy roleplay set in a Xianxia world. Xianxia is a fantasy genre based on Chinese mythology and traditions, especially Taoism. It is not based on any particular series’ world, instead taking place in an original world designed based on the common tropes of a Xianxia world.

Your characters can train to absorb the spiritual energies of heaven and earth, commonly known as qi, in order to remodel their bodies and souls. They do this to break free of Heaven’s mandated lifespan and become immortal. Conveniently, this also comes with immense magical and/or physical power, but cultivators also have a much harder time reproducing.

To represent this, Myriad Paths utilizes a participation-based progression system. Characters gain insight from posting, which they may spend on upgrades to their various mystical abilities. The insight gained varies depending on the length of a roleplay post as well as how many posts a character has.

You can spend insights on various techniques for your character, which represents how well they understand those techniques and their underlying principles. This allows them to increase the power of their abilities. Ultimately, they will even have opportunities to evolve their skills into more powerful versions. There are a myriad of potential skills, which are limited only by the imaginations of the players. Some cultivators use their qi to manipulate swords, both to execute sword arts and to fly on the sword. Others refine their physical bodies until they can move mountains with their bare hands. Still others use magical techniques, such as fireballs, summoning storms, or manipulating the undead. Not all techniques are oriented towards combat. Many also study herbology, alchemy, talismans, runes, and so on to advance their cultivation and make money.

While it is possible to create skills on your own, there are several other ways to acquire skills. Skills may be purchased at shops or auctions using the site’s alternate currency, spirit stones. They may also be obtained randomly through events or taught by fellow characters. Whether you would like to control your build from start to finish, or leave it up to fate, there are options available to you.

Characters will also find, as they accrue insights, that their character has the opportunity to advance their cultivation. This is the term used in xianxia to describe the process of bringing a person closer to immortality and evolve in strength and ability. As a character's cultivation base improves, so does their overall power. Even though their lifespans increase, be warned, for cultivation is an act which goes against the heavens, and tribulation thunder is merciless.

If you have any additional questions about the site, feel free to join our Discord server! Our staff are more than happy to help with anything from specific character ideas, to general questions about the genre.

Those who live must die. Human or beast, the only difference is the amount of time allotted to them. All are equal beneath the unfeeling gaze of the Heavens, but are all satisfied with this arrangement? Do none exist who would raise their fist to the sky and deny such a fate? In the lands of Tianxia, tales have long been told, rumors in bars, fantasies for children, of the ones who would fight against the heavens in pursuit of eternal life. This is but one of those tales. A legend of Immortal Cultivators.

The Lands of Tianxia

Myriad Paths is set within the vast continent of Tianxia, a world filled with both humans and monsters. The name Tianxia comes from Chinese and refers to "All Beneath Heaven," an apt description for a land which appears endless from within. While travelers and rumors make claims of lands beyond, most notably in the far west, these claims are rarely verified and even less often consistent.

The lands of Tianxia are rich with spiritual energy, which acts as both a blessing and a curse for its residents. The abundance of energy allows even mortals to make use of the ley lines of the land to create enduring protective formations and ensure the safety of their empires. Yet at the same time, these formations are necessary; while most life matches that of our world, many creatures are mutated by qi, the energies of heaven and earth, and may even become vicious demonic beasts. While some among these gain sentience and form lasting treaties with the human states, the majority remain senseless monsters, guided by only their primal urges.

Humans, ghosts, plants, spirits, and so on are all able to make use of this energy and become cultivators. They refine the spiritual energy in the world around them, altering their very souls in pursuit of power and immortality. Each individual holds their own motives and goals; even basic morals may fall to the wayside of the question, ”What would one do in order to live forever?”

While the world is fraught with danger, so too is it filled with opportunity. While a deadly threat to mortals, demonic beasts are valuable prey for both cultivators and their fellow beasts alike. Plants may give birth to wondrous natural treasures, medicinal herbs may cure fatal wounds with a single bite, legendary ores can give rise to mystical tools and weaponry when forged. When one sets off on their journey of cultivation, the future is never certain.

While the culture of the Tianxia continent is primarily based on that of ancient China, characters are far from limited to this ethnicity. Although rare, travelers have been known to arrive from lands beyond--in more ways than one. Aside from those lucky few who make it through the natural barriers which isolate the continent, both transmigrators and reincarnators have also appeared throughout the world’s history, passing on their own cultures and names.
